Subject: The Closing Of Winterland

This was my very first GD-Show i've ever heard. I'm born in this century, so i never saw the Dead live.
After the 4 Discs of the offical release "The Closing Of Winterland 78" i was in love with those noble Hippies.
Yesterday i heard the hole show again (i hear it every month i believe), but in 5.1 DTS. It was amazing! This energy in the whole thing, wow!
I can highly recommend it!

Thank you, Mr. Tobin. This is a work of art. The use of SBD in the front channels and AUD in the rear channels is nothing short of genius. This actually sounds better than the DTS DVD Closing of Winterland. Yet how ironic that only two DTS transfers can be downloaded from the archive, and one of the two is a commercial release? I'm addicted. How do I get the others...starting with 10jun73 please? If you have a DTS-compliant receiver and DVD/Blu-Ray player and (at least) 5.0 speaker system and do not have this transfer, you're f*cking up. Get it while it's available.

Subject: DTS audio

For those that hear only static - it is because they are encoded as DTS 5.1 channel audio.

Download the FLAC files, download and install CDburnerXP , then create an audioCD from the flac files.

You will still hear nothing but static from MOST CD players, but if you play the disc on a DTS-capable DVD player, you will get the full surround-sound experience (provided you've got a 5.1 setup connected to your DVD player).

THIS show is one of the few (I actually know of no other) DTS-encoded shows where you can still download the flac files. Most of the time I get the following message: "The item is not available due to issues with the item's content."

Anyone know of a work-around for this

Subject: problems playing these files

something strange with the encoding on these files. Every media player I tried gave me static. I had to download a dts plugin for foobar2000 before I could play them. I haven't been able to convert them to anything portable. The one file I was able to play (after a few hours of work), "St. Stephen," sounded very good.

You are having trouble downloading this because its a DTS type file or something like that. Its not for downloading for audio listening

Please tell me if I'm just not doing something right, but the three files I downloaded from this show where just solid static at -12dB through the whole audio file.
